This is my second planter project. It is about 5 inches tall. In this project a skill I used was opening twice. An art element In this is color. The design element is proportion/scale because of the large primary bowl that sizes correctly towards the smaller catcher tray at the bottom. The design element and skills helped to create an overall mood of calmness.
This is my 4th bowl project. It is about 3 inches tall and has a base the size of a normal plate. One new skill I learned while creating this project was how to create a proper sized base. I learned this skill because while making this project I made the base too wide and it cracked so I learned next time to keep the base a little bit smaller. One art element I used in this bowl is form because the bowl is formed in a really unique way that looks more like a dish; like something you'd hold salsa or guacamole in. A design element used in this project is pattern because when glazing this project I made a symmetrical pattern on the inside while the rest of the bowl is done with clear glaze. The skills and design element in this project helped to create a feeling of what I see as an ancient pottery.
This is my 3rd bowl project. It is about 4 inches tall. It is glazed solid blue. While making this project a new skill I learned is how to make the base small and then widen as I pull up. An art element in this is color because the bowl is a nice shiny blue and it is very neatly glazed. The design element in this project is balance because the bowl is well made with little to no uneven characteristics. The skills and elements in this project present an overall feeling of soft dark comfort.
This is my double wall project. It's about 4 inches tall and has cut out shapes all around the project. One new skill I learned during this project is how to pull up two walls. An art element in the project is shape because of the tiny shapes around the walls that show the project actually has depth and it shows space in between the two walls. A design element incorporated in this is emphasis because the emphasized thickness of the project though the shapes and proportion. The skills and design element come together to show an overall feeling of sturdiness.
This is my cup with pulled handle project. It is about the size of a softball. It's handle is about 3 inches long. One skill I used while making this project is pulling because I used the pulling technique for the first time to create a handle. An art element that is presented in this project is color because of he contrast in the light blue and darker blue that is sort of green. A design element incorporated in this project is proportion/scale because of the handle. The size of the handle in proportion to the cup is important because if the handle is too small or too big, it could break off and ruin the whole project. The skills I used in this project helped me create a feeling of an oceanic mood or light natural blue habitat.
This is my lidded project. It is a cup size base form with a coaster sized lid. One new skill I learned is how to make a lid that fits on a cup. An art element in this project is color because there is a contrast from the dark color on the inside of the cup, and the clear glazing on the outside. A design element incorporated in this project is proportion/scale because the lid is a good size and form for the cup part. The new skills of making a lid that fits on top of a cup will help me to make more difficult projects and maybe on a larger scale. All the designs and inclusions on this project express a feeling/mood of simplicity.
This is my wheel vase project. It is about the size of a cantaloupe. The color of it turned out to be a dark brown. While making this vase I learned how to choke the project. An art element that's shown here is form because of the way the vase curves in and then out at the top. A design element incorporated in this is balance because of the even choking and pulling at the top of the vase. The color and the balance of the vase, projects a mood of sturdiness.
This is my groups Frankel pot. It was a three section project with collaboration from Maddy F, Duncan C, and I. On the project there is arms and a face and screws in the Frankel pots "neck", just like how Frankenstein has screws in his neck. The new skill I learned while creating this project is putting different wheel sections together to make a final big one. An art element that is present in this project is color, because it takes the same colors as a the actual Frankenstein creature. The design element incorporated in this is proportion, because the arms and screws and face were made in proportion to the entire body of the project. The whole skills and design of this project expressed a mood of funny creativity but at the same time showing off a sort of advanced skill in throwing.
This is my Planter project. It was made on a wheel. It has two sections, a top bowl and a bottom plate section connected to it. A skill that I learned while creating this project is pulling the wall. An art element that is incorporated in this project is value. It's value is important because it is useful for a appetizer tray. It may hold salsa and guacamole for a party. A design element that is have in this project is emphasis. The lifted bowl that is on the upper section of this project is emphasized especially since it is a different color then the base plate section. The overall simplicity of the project makes the contents that you would put inside the project, more important.
This is my first plate project. It is a small, flat plate that only lifts up a half an inch. One skill I learned while making this plate was how to center well. An art element that is incorporated in this project is texture. A design element that's shown is rhythm. The waves on the top surface of the plate are similar to the wavy sand on hot beaches.
